Turn More Visitors Into Buyers
I talked about just this issue in a recent interview with Mike Levin of Connor's Communications. While it's great to have traffic to your website, it's even more important to generate leads, feed your sales funnel, and close sales. Here are some points from that call.- More traffic doesn't fix broken websites. If you're website doesn't convert any visitors into sales, more traffic isn't going to help unless that traffic is (a) more focused on ideal buyers, and (b) better qualified from your current lead base. Mike Levin talks about fixing your website in "Converting Prospects Into Customers" at HitTail.
- Keywords represent suggestions from visitors. This was the first time I've heard someone else make this point, Mike hit the topic home sharing a tool that helps mine the long tail. Use keywords to understand what visitors want, then offer them that in your copy. What are you doing with your web site keywords?
- Clear navigation and visitor paths are critical. You can't just drop a visitor in your site and expect them to buy something or request more information. Use site navigation that moves visitors to specific objectives, design your site to serve a purpose (make sales or generate leads.) How are you guiding visitors to specific actions?
This call covered many points about reducing pay-per-click costs, getting more from search engine optimization, and helping you generate more qualified leads for less.
